Undergraduate License Addition

Open new worlds of adventure to your students—through reading.

Build specialized knowledge and proficiency in teaching literacy to students at the elementary and secondary levels. The Reading Level I License Addition can be added to an Elementary or Secondary License. This program is only available to teacher candidates who are in the process of completing an initial license in a recognized Teacher Education Program.

We encourage you to discuss this license addition with your academic advisor to better understand the program of study and all available options. A grade of "C" or higher in each education course and a minimum 2.5 GPA in the license addition are required. It may not be possible to complete this license addition as part of the four-year undergraduate degree program. A graduate option is available.

Students who fill out the application form and complete all coursework will automatically be considered for the annual Promising Reading Teacher Award, which recognizes the highest achieving students (top 20%) in the reading addition cohort.
