Student teaching placements are made in the Australian state of New South Wales. Students typically live in homestay accommodations. Placements in New South Wales can potentially be anywhere in the state—including coastal, Outback, small towns, or suburbs. Most placements are not made in or near Sydney unless requested (but cannot be guaranteed).

Costs and Scholarships

Global Gateway for Teachers cannot provide exact cost information since costs will vary throughout the year and from one individual to the next. Please note that all estimates are listed in U.S. Dollars. Keep in mind that foreign currency exchange rates will affect the value of the U.S. Dollar and hence your budget.

Teaching Responsibilities

Students have the opportunity to teach a variety of subjects and grade levels. In most cases, they will teach in their own licensing area (e.g., elementary education, secondary math, etc.). Further, it may be possible to fulfill practicum requirements in Australia for the following license additions: ESL/ENL, Reading, JH/MS, Computers, and possibly others.

Other Considerations

The language of instruction is English.
