The Partners In Education program gives middle school students an opportunity to see what college is like. Each year approximately 20 middle school students are identified by their school counselors and teachers as likely to benefit from the experience and support of this program. Students visit the Bloomington campus and community organizations on a monthly basis. They explore the broad array of activities and facilities that Indiana University and Bloomington have to offer. Through hands-on activities, the students experience for themselves what it’s like to live and learn at college.
Students receive mentoring and encouragement in developing a path toward college. They are introduced to a variety of disciplines to spark interest in a career that matches their interests and skills. Since the program began in 1993, more than 300 students have participated, and many of those students have gone on to attend college.
