Student Spotlight

Cadi student taught English at an elementary school in Costa Rica in Spring 2023. "My favorite part about my host culture was how family-oriented life was. I really felt like part of the family and like I had a sense of belonging while in a completely different culture. There was no better feeling than sitting at the dinner table with the family at the end of the day and hearing stories of the past or about the day’s happenings.

Costs and Scholarships

Global Gateway for Teachers cannot provide exact cost information since costs will vary throughout the year and from one individual to the next. Please note that all estimates are listed in U.S. Dollars. Keep in mind that foreign currency exchange rates will affect the value of the U.S. Dollar and hence your budget.

Teaching Responsibilities

Most student teachers will teach conversational and written English, but they may also teach specific subjects using English as the medium of instruction. Further, it may be possible to fulfill practicum requirements in Costa Rica for the ESL/ENL license addition.

Other Considerations

A basic level of proficiency in Spanish is required. Participation is not limited to students pursuing the ESL/ENL license addition.
