Cordelia Driussi taught English to university students in Fukuyama in Fall 2018. "It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get out into the world and watch yourself bloom into an international educator, a bridge between worlds, and my memories of it include some of the most critical professional and personal development I’ve had in college."

There are a number of scholarships available for IU Bloomington students who participate in Global Gateway, some up to $4000.

Most student teachers will teach conversational and written English. Further, it may be possible to fulfill practicum requirements in Japan for the ESL/ENL license addition.
Proficiency in Japanese is not required, but participants are encouraged to learn basic words and phrases before they leave for their placement. Participation is not limited to students pursuing the ESL/ENL license addition.
