Student Spotlight

Cordelia Driussi taught English to university students in Fukuyama in Fall 2018. "It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get out into the world and watch yourself bloom into an international educator, a bridge between worlds, and my memories of it include some of the most critical professional and personal development I’ve had in college."

Costs and Scholarships

Global Gateway for Teachers cannot provide exact cost information since costs will vary throughout the year and from one individual to the next. Please note that all estimates are listed in U.S. Dollars. Keep in mind that foreign currency exchange rates will affect the value of the U.S. Dollar and hence your budget.

Teaching Responsibilities

Most student teachers will teach conversational and written English. Further, it may be possible to fulfill practicum requirements in Japan for the ESL/ENL license addition.

Other Considerations

Proficiency in Japanese is not required, but participants are encouraged to learn basic words and phrases before they leave for their placement. Participation is not limited to students pursuing the ESL/ENL license addition.
