Student teaching placements in Wales can vary greatly in terms of being rural/urban, culturally homogeneous/multi-ethnic, and of high/low socioeconomic levels. Placements are made in the Pembrokeshire area. Students typically live in homestay accommodations.

Costs and Scholarships

Global Gateway for Teachers cannot provide exact cost information since costs will vary throughout the year and from one individual to the next. Please note that all estimates are listed in U.S. Dollars. Keep in mind that foreign currency exchange rates will affect the value of the U.S. Dollar and hence your budget.

Teaching Responsibilities

Students may teach a variety of subjects and grade levels. In most cases, they will teach in their own licensing area (e.g., elementary education, secondary math, etc.). Further, it may be possible to fulfill practicum requirements in Scotland for the following license additions: ESL/ENL, Reading, JH/MS, Computers, and possibly others.

Other Considerations

The language of instruction is English. Placements in Wales are extremely limited, and students advised to have a “second choice” host nation.
