Graduation Checklist for the Specialist in Education

Graduation Checklist for the Specialist in Education

Program Requirements

Students are responsible for the completion of all program-specific requirements in order to receive a degree. Requirements are published in the School of Education Graduate Bulletin.

Program of Studies

All students must have a current Program of Studies form signed by their advisor and approved by the department chair. The department office will scan and submit the approved Program of Studies form to the Office of Graduate Studies, and then the record will be reviewed for conferral of a degree. If you do not have an approved Program of Studies form on file, it may delay your graduation. Please see your department for a Program of Studies form and work with the department to submit it to the Office of Graduate Studies when complete.

Nomination to Award Degree of Specialist in Education

You must submit a Nomination to Award Degree of Specialist in Education Form during the semester you plan to graduate. If you have not already done so, please download the form and complete it with your advisory committee.

Application for Graduation

An Application for Graduation form must be submitted to the Office of Graduate Studies several months prior to the degree conferral date.

Failure to apply for graduation by the deadline may result in your name not appearing in the Commencement program and could result in your graduation being deferred to the next available date.

Federal law requires that the university collect information on all degree-seeking students which specify when a student expects to graduate. In addition, most financial aid providers require the same information as part of the enrollment verification process.

There are two Commencement ceremonies per year in Bloomington. They are held in May and December. All students are encouraged to participate in the Commencement ceremonies.
