The Counseling and Educational Psychology department has changed its name to Applied Psychology in Education and Research Methodology, effective immediately.
According to department chair Jessica Lester, the name change was in part in response to shifts in the composition of the department over the last decades, as the previous department name did not fully capture the work of the department, nor fully represent the range of disciplines and academic programs that exist within it. The new department name was developed through a collaborative process that took nearly two years.
“We had a departmental committee that included two graduate student representatives as well as three faculty members. Through multiple iterations and engaging in collaborative effort with colleagues within the department, school, and across campus, we collectively settled on the name Applied Psychology in Education and Research Methodology,” Lester added.
