Student Testimonials

My time in the Counseling Psychology PhD program here at IU has been integral in my development as a multiculturally oriented student, educator, researcher, and clinician. I have felt supported and valued not only within my close relationship with my advisor, but also with a number of other faculty members. Beyond this, the friends (and future colleagues) I have gotten to meet while in this program are irreplaceable and have made my time here feel all the more fulfilling.

Enrolling in Indiana University's Counseling Psychology doctoral program was the best decision I've ever made. The environment created here by students and faculty alike is supportive and encouraging. Many programs claim to care about their students' well-being; our program actually means it and puts it into practice. Whether a student hopes to have a clinically-focused career, a career in academia, or something in between, there are plenty of opportunities to gain experience in any area of interest. The faculty are top-notch and strive to build relationships with all students. Our classrooms are intimate and welcoming environments that foster meaningful discussions of relevant topics within our field. I know that the training I am receiving here is preparing me well for my future career, and I am proud to be a student in our doctoral program.

In searching for a counseling psychology training program, I was looking for a program where I will be challenged, have autonomy, with warm and genuine caring faculty. Indiana University's counseling psychology PhD program has achieved that and more. I always find myself grateful for the opportunity to practice, teach and learn each day with such rich support. I can't say enough good things about this program.

Even if I could, I would never change my decision to complete the IU’s Counseling Psychology Ph.D. program. The IU’s distinguished faculty equipped me with essential skills to better promote mental health among diverse individuals and groups. The program courses, research mentorship, supervised clinical training, undergraduate classroom teaching and other opportunities I participated in helped me grow tremendously both personally and professionally. I truly enjoy seeing the positive changes I can make in people’s lives by actively applying the knowledge and skills I learned from the IU’s Counseling Psychology program.
