About Me

Amara Stuehling is the Director of Recruitment and Partnerships for the Global Gateway for Teachers, working to expand participation among IU Bloomington students as well as students, staff, and faculty collaborators from guest and partner campuses. She previously served as Associate Instructor and Assistant Director in the office.

Amara holds a Ph.D. from the IU School of Education in Literacy, Culture, and Language Education and has additional experience from working in IU Research on grant proposal preparation. With over a decade of experience in international education, Amara has been active in the field, serving on the volunteer leadership team with the Global Leadership League as well as on the Board of Advisors for Abroadia (a study abroad program provider). She has presented at regional and national conferences on Spanish language immersion programs as well as intercultural learning in teacher education. She is a co-author of a book chapter on international student teaching in At School in the World: Developing Globally Engaged Teachers (2023) and is deeply committed to contributing to impactful study abroad programs emphasizing cultural immersion and community engagement.
