About Me

Elizabeth Boling is Associate Professor of Education (Multimedia Design and Development) and Chairperson of the Instructional Systems Technology Department, Indiana University, Bloomington (1993 - present). She holds her B.F.A. (Texas Tech University) and M.F.A. (Indiana University) in Printmaking. She worked as interface designer and production manager for educational software development under contract to Macmillan Publishing (1983 - 1987), then as Graphics and Animation Manager for Instructional Products at Apple, Inc., Cupertino, from 1988-92. Her research interests include visual design for information and instruction, and design theory, pedagogy and practice. She is past editor-in-chief of TechTrends, founding editor and current editor-in-chief of International Journal of Designs for Learning, lead editor of the forthcoming Routledge title Studio Teaching in Higher Education: Selected Design Cases and a co-editor of the Handbook of Research in Educational Communications and Technology, 5th Edition.
