HESA Doctoral Program Application Process

Individuals who are interested in applying to the HESA Ph.D. program or Ed.D. program must complete an online application by December 1st. In your application, make sure to identify your goals for doctoral study and why you are interested in the HESA program at IU.

After submitting your online application, a committee of HESA faculty will complete a holistic review of all application materials including personal statements, writing samples, letters of recommendation, and transcripts. We encourage candidates to include at least one letter of recommendation from a faculty member who can speak to the candidate's work as a student.

Decisions are based on a comprehensive evaluation of all these materials. Individuals are notified of their acceptance by early February.

Virtual Tour

If you can't make it to campus in person, you can go on the IU Bloomington virtual tour. On this interactive walking tour, you’ll hear from IU students, see 360-degree panoramas of classrooms, residence halls, arts and athletics facilities, outdoor spaces, and more.
