Community Conversations connect faculty, staff, and students in a monthly forum to foster in-depth dialogue around how we may work towards our goals as a school.

African-American Read-In

Each February, in collaboration with The Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center and IU Libraries, we host read-aloud activities in which high school and elementary school students share poems or passages from their favorite African American author, or original works about the Black experience.

TEA Talks are an on-going series to help students, faculty, and staff remain engaged in and continue to champion issues of advocacy and belonging.

Just Us Gatherings are informal get-togethers with IU School of Education faculty and staff.

MLK Day Events

Each January, we host two events for MLK Day. Elementary-age youth and their families enjoy a birthday celebration with singing and cake, while middle and high school students engage in conversations using video clips and music to explore current social issues in relation to Dr. King’s vision.
