Whether you’re a seasoned senior about to secure your first teaching job or a freshman just starting classes at the School of Education, it’s never too early to think about your future career—or to visit our Career Connections office.
Located in Suite 1000 on the west end of the first floor in the Wright building, Career Connections can answer your questions about resumes, cover letters, interviewing, or other career-related topics. But even if life post-college is a long way off, Career Connections can still help you out. Whether you’re looking for a part-time job or need more information about extracurricular activities around IU, the office is here to help. Students can contact our staff and schedule a one-on-one meeting either in person or via Zoom.
The Career Connections office also organizes several free workshops for all students:
- Mindful Moments: Integrating Mindfulness into Daily Teaching Practices - Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. Learn how to incorporate mindfulness practices into your daily life to reduce stress, increase focus, and enhance overall well-being.
- Networking 101 - Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. Connect with IU alumni to explore tips of networking and put those skills to the test.
- Empowering Educators: Navigating Trauma-Informed Classrooms with Compassion and Resilience - Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. Explore principles of trauma-informed responses across a school system and insight into recognizing and responding to students’ diverse emotional needs.
The office also hosts key events throughout the year:
- Student Teaching Fair - Held every fall, school districts from central and southern Indiana come to the School of Education to advertise their schools and communities and meet our students.
- Interview Day - Each spring, we invite school district representatives from Indiana to Arizona, and as far away as Alaska, to the School of Education's Interview Day. This is a unique opportunity for students to learn more about school districts from around the country and gain interview experience without leaving campus.
