A first year international Ed. D. student from Kazakhstan studying in the Higher Education and Student Affairs (HESA) program at Indiana University Bloomington. His research interests include student success, transformation of higher education institutions, and other areas.

Miras has 11 years of working experience at Nazarbayev University, a top research university in Central Asia. He held various positions: specialist in the Dean’s Office, Manager and Senior Manager at the Department of International Cooperation, Senior Manager at the Office of the President, and lastly, served two years as a Director of the Department of Student Services.

In his last position, he worked on reshaping and elevating the status of student services, transforming the areas of student housing, extracurricular activities, student advocacy and conduct, student wellbeing, and involving different categories of students and stakeholders into student life. Concurrently with this position Miras was a permanent member of the Transformation Office and worked on optimization of business processes in other areas of the university.

Miras holds two Master’s degrees: Leadership in Education (Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan 2022), Tourism and Hospitality Management (Cesar Ritz Colleges Switzerland, 2011); Bachelor’s degree in Tourism (Eurasian National University, Kazakhstan, 2006). He is a holder of Bolashak state overseas scholarships (2011, 2023).
