Why did you choose to attend IU Bloomington?
I chose to attend IU Bloomington because of the good reputation for the Curriculum and Instruction program at School of Education. I also fell for IU Bloomington at the very beginning because I received tremendous support from my current program coordinators and other faculty during my application process. I had a strong feeling that this is a supportive and welcoming environment. And I am right about it.

What should prospective students know about your IU School of Education graduate program?
There are a variety of programs for you to choose from. With each program, there will be program coordinators and other faculty who are very willing to answer your questions. Also, one of the best ways to understand the program is to connect with current graduate students as well as faculty whose research is aligned with what you are interested in.

What has been your favorite academic accomplishment since starting your IU Bloomington program?
I just received the Shirley H. Engel Fellowship for the 2020-2021 academic year. This fellowship is awarded to doctoral students whose research and work is aimed at promoting democratic education.

What is the best thing about life in Bloomington?
The nature! As someone who used to live in Hawaii, I was worried that it would be a shock to transition to live in the Midwest. However, the beautiful forests, greenery landscapes around the town and the campus as well as the sunset in Lake Monroe has been a great bonus and made up for my longing for the ocean.
