Ed.S. in Education – Elementary Education Track

Prepare for a position as a classroom teacher in elementary or early childhood education, supervising teacher, supervisor of elementary instruction, or director of elementary curriculum.

This program enables students to develop competence in an area of educational specialization with emphasis on practice. The Ed.S. in elementary education goes beyond the master’s degree with a focus on theory, curriculum development, and the application of research to the elementary classroom.

  • Admission Requirements

    In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Graduate Studies Office will accept unofficial transcripts and self-reported test scores for admission reviews. Any admission made with these documents would be conditioned on receipt of official documents, which should be provided as soon as possible.

    Note: If you are currently enrolled or have applied in the past year, you should qualify for an application fee waiver. Click here for criteria and how to obtain the waiver.

    1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
    2. Minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75 out of 4.00
    3. Completed online application that includes:
      • Personal statement
      • Resume (required from international students only)
      • Two letters of recommendation
      • GRE scores
      • Minimum 79 TOEFL score or minimum 6.5 IELTS score (international students only)

    Personalized programs may be planned for careers in related educational fields such as curriculum development with the state or federal government or with commercial publishing companies.

    To obtain any of these licenses, a student must be eligible to hold a valid elementary school teaching license in Indiana.
