English is taught as a subject in primary schools, and it is the medium of instruction in secondary schools. Thus, elementary teachers will teach English, and secondary teachers will likely teach in their own content areas. Further, it may be possible to fulfill practicum requirements in Tanzania for the ESL/ENL license addition.
Proficiency in Swahili is not required, but participants are encouraged to learn basic words and phrases before they leave for their placement. Participation is not limited to students pursuing the ESL/ENL license addition.
