Teaching placements are typically made in primary and secondary schools in and around Belfast. Teachers typically live in dormitory accommodations on the campus of Stranmillis University College, the Global Gateway's partner institution in Belfast.

In most cases, teachers will teach in their own licensing area (e.g., elementary education, secondary math, etc.). Further, it may be possible to fulfill practicum requirements in Northern Ireland for the following license additions: ESL/ENL, Reading, JH/MS, Computers, and possibly others.
The language of instruction is English.
