This committee shall make recommendations regarding program and policy changes related to undergraduate and graduate teacher education and undergraduate curricula, student recruitment and retention, admissions, and programs in the School through initial teacher certification. This committee shall have oversight responsibility with respect to accreditation of teacher education programs and shall advise the Policy Council and Dean (and/or his/her designee) on other matters pertaining to teacher education. The committee shall advise the Dean (and/or his/her designee) on the formation and charge to the Professional Standards Committee (a committee that makes decisions about exceptions to teacher education policies in response to individual student appeals). Committee membership shall be five Education faculty members, one Education staff member, two IU faculty from outside of Education, three P-12 School representatives, one student, and ex-officio members as appropriate. In identifying new members for this committee each year, Policy Council's agenda committee will consider recommendations sent forward by current members of the Committee on Teacher Education.
Course or Program Change
Please review the Course-Program Approval Process Document prior to submitting a new course or course change request. The New Course or Course Change Request form can be picked up from Maria Jensen in the Dean's office. This document must be typed and signed by your department chair prior to submitting to the Associate Dean for Teacher Education by the next available date as indicated in the course-program approval process document.
