Description:

In order to increase the open times and support provided through The MILL, we seek to hire students to work hourly in the space during the Spring 2022 term. At this time we’re hoping to hire 1-2 more students to work ~10 hours per week at a rate of $15/hour.
Student Assistants for the Uplands Maker Mobile
- 8-12 hours per week
- $12-15/hour
We are looking to hire 1-2 assistants at the rate of $12-15/hour for the Uplands Maker Mobile for the Spring 2022 term. If you are interested in STEAM, makerspaces, and working with diverse groups of youth and adults on interesting projects, we think you would be a good fit for the Uplands Maker Mobile.
Responsibilities:
Student Assistants for The Mill
The main part of this work will be supporting faculty and students in the learning and use of the equipment and tools of the space, thinking about how to incorporate making into their classes or assignments and in conducting outreach (tours, workshops, etc.). While it is helpful if you have some knowledge of making, learning and instruction with technology, we will develop your knowledge through training and potential coursework.
Student Assistants for the Uplands Maker Mobile
The majority of your work each week (~8-12 hrs) will likely consist of preparing, researching, and helping to get the Maker Mobile ready for future engagements. There will also be time to get you developing and running maker programming out in the Uplands region with real, live people! There is plenty of opportunity to develop and hone your skills in every aspect of makerspace learning. Access to personal transportation is preferred, but not required.
Requirements:
Both positions require SOE background checks. The Uplands Maker Mobile position will also require a motor vehicle records check.
Application Procedures:
If you are interested in either of these positions, please send the following by February 10 to millsoe@indiana.edu:
- A cover letter that:
- expresses your interest in the position(s) and how this work fits with your educational objectives,
- highlights relevant experiences you have – especially experiences working with diverse audiences of learners,
- indicates your expected availability over the school year (e.g., “I can work 12 hours per week each semester.”),
- indicates your preference for MILL, Uplands Maker Mobile or both.
