Case Challenge 2022

Protecting Youth Mental Health

Calling all SoE Undergraduate Students! Be part of the solution to helping youth overcome pandemic-related mental health challenges.

How can P-12 schools and school districts provide innovative and creative support for students and their families who are dealing with mental health challenges?

Working together in teams of 2-4, your challenge is to prepare creative and innovative programming for a summer learning program.

The target audience is grades K-8 and includes four weeks of half-day activities. Activities should maximize student learning opportunities in math and reading. A minimum of one lesson/activity should be included for three grade-level groups: grades K-2, grades 3-5 and grades 6-8.

Teams will present their solutions to a panel of educational experts on Saturday, April 9. Each presentation includes a 15-minute visual presentation followed by 10 minutes of Q&A. These presentations can be in-person, virtual or a combination of both. The presentation should also include a one-page executive summary.

Cash Prizes

The top three teams will receive a prize:

1st place team: $1,000
2nd place team: $500
3rd place team: $250

Awards are supported by Dr. and Mrs. Vernon Johnson.
