Science comes alive for kids during our Saturday Science Quest program. This popular program provides children with opportunities to formulate questions, do hands-on science experiments, and act like scientists/engineers.
Topics change every semester. In the past, the focus has mainly been on science, but with current trends we now are working towards a broader STEM experience.

Classes will be offered in-person only. Check-in begins at 9:15am with instruction beginning at 9:30am. Photo ID will be needed to sign children in and out. Check-out time will begin at 11:30am. Check-in and out will take place at the classrooms located on the 3rd floor of the building. Signage will be posted at each entrance as to which room to go to for each grade. Supervision is not available before and after class.
The program will take place in the School of Education (Wendell Wright Building, located at Seventh Street and Rose Avenue on the IU Bloomington campus). Parking is available at East parking garage next to the Education building.
Classes may sometimes go outdoors, but details about this will be send in the weekly reminder emails sent to families.
Cost for the Saturday Science is $65 per student. There will be a $10 discount for siblings. There are a limited number of some full and partial scholarships also available (one scholarship per student and only one provided per family). No refunds will be provided beginning March 30, 2024 (the first day of the program). Before this date, for a refund, notification must be made to Daniel Theus (dwtheus@iu.edu) in writing (i.e., email) before the first day of class. Requests for refund will be reviewed and determined by the Faculty Program Supervisor, Dr. Meredith Park Rogers.
Class instructors are often former or soon to be classroom teachers. Undergraduate education majors are available to provide one-on-one attention for any child who may need it.
Our goal is to build a positive learning community for all children. To achieve this goal, it is important that ALL children respect each other’s space, ideas, and materials. Therefore, if a child’s behavior is preventing the class from developing a positive and supportive learning environment we will contact parents/guardians to discuss options about continuing with the session.
