HESA Associate Professor awarded IU Bicentennial Medal |
HESA Associate Professor, Dr. Andrea Walton was awarded one of the IU Bicentennial Medals in recognition of her service to Indiana University. The Bicentennial Medal was awarded to organizations and individuals who, through their personal, professional, artistic, or philanthropic efforts, broadened the reach of Indiana University around the state, nation, and world. Dr. Walton served as a member of the strategic planning team for the IU Bicentennial, supported the Time Capsule initiative as IUB’s Campus historian, and served as the organizing author for the Anthology of IU Women’s histories. | | |

HESA Doctoral Candidate named Assistant Director for Hudson and Holland Scholars Program |
HESA Doctoral Candidate Donté Miller has been named as the Assistant Director of Programming and Administration for the Hudson and Holland Scholars Program at Indiana University-Bloomington. Prior to this role, Donté served as an Associate Instructor for the Foundations of Undergraduate Success for Hudson and Holland Scholars. | | |

HESA Professor named Executive Associate Dean |
HESA Professor, Dr. Vasti Torres has been named the Executive Associate Dean at Indiana University-Bloomington School of Education. Prior to taking on this role, she served as the Department Chair of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at IUB. | | |

HESA Alum named CSU Doctoral Fellow |
HESA Alum Gabriel Rodríguez Lemus. Jr. (M.S.Ed. '20), a current doctoral student in the Educational Leadership and Policy Department at the University of Texas at Austin was chosen to be part of The California State University Chancellor's Doctoral Incentive Program as a Doctoral Fellow for 2021-2022. In addition, they have been named a Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholar. Both programs aim to provide support and mentorship to help students reach their professional goals. | | |

Dr. Dan Maxwell appointed as the 2023 NASPA Annual Conference Chair |
Dr. Dan Maxwell (Ed.D.’ 16) has been appointed as the 2023 NASPA Annual Conference Chair. He will serve as Conference Chair-Elect from August 2021 until March 2022.He currently serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs for the University of Houston System and the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of Houston. In 2020, he was named a NASPA Pillar of the Profession. The 2023 NASPA Annual Conference will take place in Boston, MA.

Dr. Jennifer Zamora receives Advisor Award of Distinction from NIC |
Dr. Jennifer Zamora (M.S.Ed.’04) received the Advisor Award of Distinction from the North American Interfraternity Conference. The award recognizes exceptional commitment to advising a fraternity chapter, Interfraternity Council or fraternity/sorority community. Dr. Zamora currently serves as the Director for Student Programs the University of Texas at Austin and Chapter Counselor to Beta Theta Pi Fraternity.

HESA Alum receives Pride Award for Collaborative Excellence |
Kim Kushner (M.S.Ed.'10), received the 2020-2021 University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Pride Award for Collaborative Excellence Award. UMKC’s annual Pride Awards recognize outstanding individuals on campus and in the community who have sought to better our LGBTQIA community through education, support, programming, or activism. The Collaborative Excellence Award recognizes those whose collaborative efforts have resulted in new or improved resources and services for LGBTQIA students, faculty, staff or community members. She currently serves as the Assistant Director of New Student and Family Programs at UMKC.
