HESA Alum Named Associate Director |
HESA Alum Anna Krause(M.S.Ed.’14) has been named the Associate Director of the Office of Student Conduct. She previously worked in the Office of Student Conduct as a Graduate Practicum Student, a full-time Coordinator, and as the Assistant Director before leaving to work on her J.D. at the IUPUI McKinney School of Law. Part of her role will include supervising staff, investigating, hearing, and assisting with conduct cases, and helping direct the office’s strategic planning and project management. | | | | |

“The Campus Color Line” Earns Multiple Award |
Dr. Eddie R. Cole (M.S.Ed’09, Ph.D.’13), has won multiple awards for his book, “The Campus Color Line: College Presidents and the Struggle for Black Freedom”
. He received the Frederic W. Ness Book Award from The Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U).The annual Ness Award recognizes the book that best contributes to the understanding and improvement of liberal education. He was also awarded the 2021 American Educational Studies Association (AESA) Critics’ Choice Award. Each year, a committee of AESA members selects a number of titles it regards as outstanding books that may be of interest to those in educational studies. “The Campus Color Line” examines the role college presidents played in segregation, racist housing policies, affirmative action and campus free speech debates in the years following WWII. He is currently an Associate Professor of Higher Education and Organizational Change at the
UCLA School of Education and Information Studies. | | | | |

HESA Doctoral Candidate wins NASPA 4E Award |
HESA Doctoral Candidate, Josclynn Brandon
was awarded The National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) 4 East Graduate Student Rising Star Award. The award is given to students who’ve demonstrated excellence in the classroom, leadership and innovation in their graduate roles, and show the potential to significantly contribute to the student affairs profession. She is currently working on her dissertation that is a quantitative study on the success strategies, collegial support and persistence of Black women faculty. She is also working on a research project funded by an IU Racial Justice Grant on the experiences of Black women faculty. | | | | |

We are soliciting nominations for the Elizabeth A. Greenleaf and Robert H. Shaffer Awards. Nominations are being accepted through January 31, 2022.
The Elizabeth A. Greenleaf Award is presented annually to a graduate of the master's degree program who exemplifies "the sincere commitment, professional leadership and personal warmth" of Betty Greenleaf, for whom the award is named. The Robert H. Shaffer Award is presented to a graduate of the Higher Education doctoral program who exemplifies outstanding service to the student affairs profession.
