Dr. Eddie Cole releases new book ‘The Campus Color Line’ |
Dr. Eddie Cole (M.S.Ed’09, Ph.D.’13) has released a new book ‘The Campus Color Line’ that examines the role college presidents played in segregation, racist housing policies, affirmative action and campus free speech debates in the years following WWII. Ibram X. Kendi, National Book Award–winning professor and author, calls it "A stunning and ambitious origins story. Embedded with breathtaking narratives recovered from meticulous research, this book vividly connects the actions of past college presidents to the racial issues that we, as a society, struggle with today." The book has been highlighted on InsideHigherEd.com, Buzzfeed News and numerous media outlets.

HESA Faculty to oversee 5 million dollar Grant |
Dr. Victor Borden, Professor, coordinated the development of, and will be the project director for a $5 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc to Indiana University. This grant aims to engage in leading-edge information technology expertise to improve the flow of students through Indiana's K-16 school pipeline into the state's workforce. IU received funding through the Charting the Future for Indiana's Colleges and Universities initiative. The initiative will help Indiana's colleges and universities develop creative and bold strategies to improve the educational attainment and career readiness of Hoosier students and build the state's intellectual capital.

Dr. Cameron Beatty receives the FSU Inclusive Teaching and Mentoring Award |
Dr. Cameron Beatty (M.S. Ed.’10) recently received the Florida State University Inclusive Teaching and Mentoring Award. This award honors faculty who teach courses in which the learning environment is explicitly designed to be inclusive so that all students can flourish and serve as role models or who mentor students beyond the classroom. | | |

Dr. Shaun Harper hosts Race in the Workplace sessions with Time Magazine |
Dr. Shaun Harper (M.S.Ed.’00, Ph.D.’03) is currently hosting a multi-part series with the Chief Diversity Officer of Zoom Magazine through Time Magazine that is focused on practical approaches to improving and advancing racial equity, diversity, and inclusion in organizations. Some of the topics include: Recruiting and hiring professionals of color, How to talk about Racism at work, and Holding Managers Accountable for Diversity and Inclusion Goals.
