Libby Spotts and Jackie Stelmaszczyk receive ASCA Awards |
Libby Spotts and Jackie Stelmaszczyk, current doctoral students in the Higher Education & Student Affairs Program, recently received awards from the Association for Student Conduct Administration (ASCA). Spotts received the Student Conduct Professional of the Year award which recognizes a professional who has demonstrated excellence in the past year. Candidates for this award must have primary responsibilities in the professional competencies overseen by ASCA, be a member of ASCA, and have four or more years of full-time professional experience in an area related to the profession. Stelmaszczyk received the Dr. Felice Dublon Award of Excellence which recognizes a new professional who has recently transitioned from another area of student affairs, or someone who has transitioned from a primary student conduct role into another area of student affairs, and who has demonstrated excellence in the past year. Candidates for this award must be a current member of ASCA, must have less than three years of experience in their current role, and must have at least five years of professional experience. Spotts and Stelmaszczyk received their awards at the 2020 ASCA National Conference which took place in early February.

Ryan J. Davis is named Associate Vice President for Institutional Equity and Diversity at Brown University |
Dr. Ryan J. Davis (‘20) recently joined Brown University’s Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity in a newly-created position as Associate Vice President for Institutional Equity and Diversity. In this new role, Davis hopes to “uphold transparency by analyzing data from the recent campus climate survey and soliciting student feedback on the survey through town hall forums.” Davis also hopes to “help host discussions about Phase II of the Pathways to Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan prior to its formal release later this spring.” Davis began this new position on January 13, 2020.

Dr. Vic Borden receives W. George Pinnel Award for Outstanding Service |
Dr. Vic Borden, current faculty member in the Higher Education & Student Affairs program, will receive the W. George Pinnel Award for Outstanding Service by Indiana University. This award recognizes faculty members and librarians who have shown exceptional breadth of involvement in service to the university, to their profession, or to the public. Recipients are selected from more than 4,000 faculty members on all eight campuses based on nominations. Borden's award will be presented to him at the Celebration of Distinguished Teaching and Service this spring. | | |
