HESA Alumni Publish Article on COVID-19 |
Dr. Mahauganee Shaw Bonds (Ph.D. '12) and Dr. Nadrea R. Njoku (Ph.D. '15, M.S.Ed. '09) recently published an article in Diverse Issues in Higher Education. Their article titled, "COVID-19 Comes to Campus: What Hurricane Katrina Tells Us About the Current Campus Crisis," discusses some of the "parallels between Hurricane Katrina’s impact on daily operations and what we currently face with COVID-19." Our program is excited to share the 2020 HESA Masters Resume book! We have another outstanding group of students searching for jobs. IU School of Education’s Higher Education and Student Affairs program top ten in the nation |
IU School of Education’s Higher Education and Student Affairs program continues to be one of the best in the nation, ranking seventh according to U.S. News and World Report’s 2021 “Best Graduate Schools” rankings.
Overall, the IU School of Education remains ranked first in Indiana, is 34th throughout the U.S., and No. 23 among public graduate schools of education. The rankings include eight IU School of Education graduate programs, five of which are in the top ten across the nation. Read more about our rankings here. | | |

HESA Students Place Top Three in Virtual Case Study Competition |
Christine Salzman, Madeline Murphy, Alexis Fuentes, and Shelby Kuepker, current HESA Masters students, recently placed 3rd in the 19th Annual StudentAffairs.com Virtual Case Study Competition. The competition received 44 submissions from 27 different schools. Team members from the top three finishers each received checks - $200 each for first, $150 each for second, and $100 each for third. Dr. Brian McGowan receives New Leader Award |
Dr. Brian McGowan (Ph.D. ‘13) has received the 2020 New Leader Award from the Ohio State University College of Education and Human Ecology. This award recognizes an alumni who has demonstrated significant professional accomplishments or service to the college and society in their early careers and professional lives. Nominees show promise of future significant accomplishments. McGowan is currently an Associate Professor of Education and Associate Director of Pedagogy and Higher Education Research in the Center for Teaching, Research, and Learning at American University. | | |
