For the second year, our program is excited to share the 2018 HESA Masters Resume book! We have another outstanding group of students searching for jobs. Isabella Villacampa receives NASPA NOW Recognition
Isabella Villacampa (M.S.Ed '14) was selected for the NASPA NOW Recognition. Similar to a “30 under 30” type recognition, NASPA NOW recognizes outstanding New Professionals and Graduate Students in the profession. She is 1 of 5 professionals recognized for the “Impact” category for supporting the mission and strategic plan of NASPA through service to the organization on a campus, regional, or national level.
LaWanda Ward receives Honorable Mention from the American Association of Blacks in Higher Education
LaWanda Ward (‘17) has been awarded the 2018 Honorable Mention Recipient from the American Association of Blacks in Higher Education (AABHE) for her dissertation on, “Arguing Race, Advocating Racism: A Critical Race & Discourse Analysis of Higher Education Race-Conscious Supreme Court Oral Arguments” LaWanda will receive her award at the 2018 AABHE Conference Luncheon which will take place in New Orleans, LA on March 26, 2018.
Philemon Yebei is appointed Assistant Vice President for Administration
Philemon Yebei (‘10) has recently been appointed the new Assistant Vice President for Administration by Indiana University. Yebei worked in budget administration and finance for the last seven years at IU Kokomo and will continue his work in finance in this university-wide position based on the Bloomington campus. In his new role, Yebei will manage the University Academic Affairs budget and administration and act as a liaison for IU’s regional campuses. Yebei will also lead the Regional Campus Fiscal Council and represent the regional campuses on the University Fiscal Council. Yebei will begin his new position on March 1st.
Michael Goodman elected President of Graduate Student Government at University of Marylandn
Michael Goodman (M.S.Ed‘12) was recently elected President of the Graduate Student Government (GSG) at the University of Maryland. Goodman is currently a doctoral student in the Student Affairs program at UM. He is a graduate assistant in the Undergraduate Student Legal Aid Office and is also a program manager at the National Association for Independent Schools, a nonprofit organization that provides services to K-12 schools in the U.S. and abroad. As GSG President, Goodman hopes to discuss collective bargaining rights for student workers, and improve its transparency and communication with graduate students.
