The Graduate Certificate in Children’s and Young Adult Literature (CAYAL) provides masters and doctoral students with knowledge of children’s and young adult literature with an emphasis on multicultural and international perspectives.

You'll explore the complex body of works in the field in relation to theoretical perspectives, research methods, and instructional approaches.

The Graduate Certificate in Children’s and Young Adult Literature is not the equivalent of or preparation for a state teaching license.

  • Admissions Requirements
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
    • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75 out of 4.00
    • Completed online application that includes:
      • Transcripts
      • Personal Statement
      • GRE Scores:
        • Not required for domestic students
        • Not required for international students
      • Resume:
        • Required for domestic students
        • Required for international students
      • TOEFL score from last two years*
