Returning to Campus

Returning to Campus

The School of Education is adopting a 3-month plan to return to campus.

EXPLORE YOUR WORKSPACE

Plan to work in your office at least one day in June or early July. The goal is to check on your technology, evaluate your needs, and/or have a day to acclimate to being in the office.

As you check out your space, it may help you to fill out this Workspace Checklist. Once you've checked everything over, please complete the Workspace Report linked below. This will allow ETS adequate time to address any issues uncovered. This step is especially important if you have not been in your office since March of 2020 or if you suspect you may be in need of assistance or new equipment. With equipment delays still a real issue, if you do suspect you’ll need new equipment, we encourage you to schedule your “explore day” in June, rather than early July.

VACCINES

Schedule Your Vaccine

As you have heard, the University will be requiring all faculty, staff and students to be fully vaccinated by August 15 or when you return to campus after August 1, whichever is earlier.

If you have not already scheduled or received your vaccine, please do so now.

Schedule your vaccine

More information about the vaccine requirement, including criteria for any medical or religious exemptions, can be found on the IU COVID-19 vaccine page.

Report Your Vaccine

If you have received your vaccine, please report it.

HYBRID WORK

Staff Members Wishing to Explore Hybrid Work

It’s clear from the survey responses that staff as well as supervisors are interested in exploring some form of hybrid work going forward. Hybrid work can be defined as working both on campus but having a day or so where the individual works from home. As an academic unit, we will want to ensure that we have staff on campus to help us fulfill our mission and to provide for a vibrant campus experience for our students. We do not anticipate any broad or full time remote work for the majority of our school, however, it’s clear that some flexibility may be of interest to many in our community. If staff or supervisors are interested in exploring whether hybrid work is an option for you or your unit, I invite you to attend the following sessions this month to learn more. Please register for your session below.

Staff Sessions: Exploring Hybrid Work

Individual sessions can also be arranged by contacting Donna Stevens to schedule a time.

Supervisor Sessions: Exploring Hybrid Work

Individual sessions can also be arranged by contacting Donna Stevens to schedule a time.

Staff interested in hybrid work will want to discuss the option with their supervisor in June. Formal applications for hybrid work will be available in July.  Note that a hybrid schedule may not be available for all positions. If you are interested or have questions, you are encouraged to attend one of the sessions above to learn more.

HYBRID WORK APPLICATIONS AND SUPERVISOR WORK PLANS

Staff interested in hybrid work will need to formally apply for consideration. Please first discuss this request with your supervisor, and the review the School of Education Remote Work Guidance document.

Supervisors who support a hybrid work model will need to also complete a work plan for each employee (linked below).

You may used this Hybrid/Remote Work Plan Template when creating the expectations for your staff members. Please upload this work plan and share it with your employees.

Applications and work plans should be submitted by July 15, or at least 14 days in advance of the desired start date. Final approvals will come later in July.
