How did you hear about the School of Education diversity initiatives?
I heard about the School of Education diversity initiatives through Balfour Scholars, as well as through the Indiana University job fair called Handshake.

When did you begin working with diversity programs in the School of Education?
This is my first year working with diversity programs in the School of Education.

What do you like most about working in the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion? What do you find challenging in the work?
What I love most is the dedication, and commitment each team has working towards an ultimate goal, and making sure everybody is doing amazing in the office. What I find challenging is the fact that we can't really interact with other face to face like normal employees due to Covid-19, it kind of takes away the fun of actually working with the great teams in the department.

What have you learned working in School of Education diversity programs? How do you believe working in diversity will impact your career goals?
What I've learned so far working in the School of Education diversity programs is that, commitment and teamwork are extremely important when it comes to working on many projects with many different teams and it is very important to make sure all those teams and including yourself are on board to accomplishing the goals throughout the department. I believe working in diversity will impact my career goals in many ways possible for the simple fact that I'm working with many great individuals, and learning from many different perspectives as well as gaining experience with working different teams to accomplish similar goals.

Which type of projects do you work on for the DEI Office?
Communications, Balfour Scholars Program

Is there anything else you would like to share about your experience with Balfour, I Can Persist, or the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion?
My experience with Balfour was absolutely amazing, I had a great time there with all the different activities and events we did, as well as making so many great connections with people there, honestly if it wasn't for Balfour I wouldn't be going to Indiana University. Balfour showed me that IU provided so many opportunities as well as many resources of truly accomplishing your true career goals and becoming the best version of yourself.
