Matt Hilbrich is an Associate Instructor for the Overseas Program in Global Gateway for Teachers. He participated in the program in 2016, as the first undergraduate IU student-teacher placed in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, near the Indian Ocean. He also worked for two years as a middle school English teacher in Florida before returning to IU in pursuit of a master’s degree in International and Comparative Education. Matt’s research explores the roles of educational NGOs and alternative education providers in East Africa. He hopes to work in the realm of international education and development, gaining experience in as many countries as possible.
His work with Global Gateway for Teachers has also sparked interest in international teacher-training and exchange programs.
