Welcome, Future Teachers

Welcome to teacher education at Indiana University Bloomington. For more than 150 years, IU has been committed to offering exemplary preparation and professional development for teachers. Today, in addition to having one of the largest and most respected teacher education programs in the nation, our faculty are nationally recognized for their innovative research as well as their professional development partnerships with teachers worldwide.

Our nation and world needs quality teachers more than ever—teachers who can help their students to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, and lifelong learners. As our world becomes increasingly diverse and interconnected, we need teachers committed to working with students from a rich array of backgrounds and cultures, and who can inspire young people to reach their potential as workers, citizens, and human beings.

The Office of Teacher Education (located in Suite 1000) serves as the hub for information about educational career options, academic advising, field experiences and student teaching, teacher licensing, job placement, and opportunities for teaching abroad in our award-winning Cultural Immersions Project.

Please stop by Suite 1000 to see what IU Teacher Education has to offer! Or contact us at (812) 856-8500 or TeEdAdv@indiana.edu. If you want to make a difference in the lives of young people, and the world they will lead, we want to help you do it!

Respectfully,

Robert Kunzman
Associate Dean of Teacher Education
