* Future student teachers must attend pre-professional meetings. These are held in April for those student teaching during the Fall, and in September for those students teaching during the Spring semester. Attendance is required at these meetings. During the meetings, staff will provide information concerning Federal and State requirements and policies of Indiana University.
During the pre-professional meetings, staff will also review the "Student Teaching Triad" and their roles and responsibilities while you are student teaching. Each of the three individuals of the triad: student teacher, supervising teacher, and Indiana University supervisor have unique responsibilities and requirements that have to be fulfilled and which will be explained during the pre-professional meetings. There will be a number of policies, procedures, and forms that have to be understood and completed at these meetings. One of the most important Federal requirements is that all students teachers must have had the Universal Precautions Training and be able to prove the time and place training took place. You will be given a card showing this proof. School systems will want to see this card before you begin student teaching. This is just one of the many areas of information that will be covered during the Pre-Professional meetings.
