Leaders from K-12, higher education and continuing education have assumed roles on the Indiana University School of Education Alumni Board of Directors

Suzanne M. Zybert of Fishers, Ind. has begun her term as president of the Indiana University School of Education Alumni Association Board of Directors. Zybert replaces Jamia Jacobsen, who was president last year and will remain on the board as past president.Zybert is principal of Nora Elementary School in Indianapolis. She has been a member of the board since 2009. Zybert earned a B.S. from the IU School of Education in 1989.
“It’s an honor to represent the more than 68,000 alumni of the Indiana University School of Education,” Zybert said. “The work of our board is critical to advancing the school’s mission of improving teaching and learning in the state of Indiana and around the world.”
H. Douglas Williams of Ninevah, Ind. is the new vice-president and president elect of the board of directors. He is a consultant for Diploma Plus. Williams earned an Ed.D. from the School of Education in 1984.
David L. Dimmett of Evansville, Ind. is the board’s new secretary/treasurer. He is senior vice president and communications officer at Project Lead the Way in
Clifton Park, NY. Dimmett has earned two degrees from IU, a B.A. in 1993 and an M.S. in Education in 2000.
In addition to Williams and Dimmett, other new board members for 2011-12 include:
- Carolyn M. Emmert, retired principal of Nashville Elementary School in Nashville, Ind. -- she has earned three degrees from the IU School of Education: an M.A. in 1969, an Ed.S. in 1994 and an Ed.D. in 1998.
- Alicia D. Harris, principal of Winding Ridge Elementary School in Indianapolis -- she earned a B.S. from the School of Education in 1995.
- Larry Lafferty, principal of Oolitic Middle School in Bedford, Ind. – he earned an A.B. from IU in 1968.
- Hazel R. Tribble, teacher at Key Learning Community in Indianapolis – she earned an M.S. from the IU School of Education in 1975.
- J. Guadalupe Vaitierra, chancellor of Ivy Tech Community College in Gary, Ind. – a J.D. from the IU School of Law in 1982 and an M.S. from the School of Education in 1984.
- Rosemary Rehak, associate principal of CSO Architects in Indianapolis – she has earned two degrees from the School of Education, an M.S. in 1977 and an Ed.D. in 1986.
