Literacy, Culture, and Language Education Distance Student Resources

How to get your IU network ID - important!

It is important that you get your IU email account as soon as possible, and that you use this as your primary way of communicating with your instructor and other students in your courses.

Why? Indiana University will only communicate with students via an IU email account (not yahoo, AOL, hotmail or anything else.) Important announcements are sent regularly from the department, the School of Education and the university. An IU network ID will provide you with this IU email account. You will also gain access to other important services such as library resources and the Oncourse system.

Can I get an Indiana University network ID?

To get your Network ID at Indiana University, follow these instructions:
1. After you register, visit the Account Management Service (AMS) at:http://itaccounts.iu.edu/
2. Select both "Student" and "Create my first IU computing accounts and passwords". Click "Continue."
3. Read and click through numerous legal stuff.
4. Complete the forms.

You must activate your network ID during your first semester of
enrollment.  If you wait until you are no longer enrolled, you may have problems in the future creating a network ID

If you encounter any problems, please email deregstr@indiana.edu and we will assist you.
