Degree Requirements
The Program of Studies form should be completed as soon as possible after admission in conjunction with your advisor and submitted to the Graduate Studies office. Download the Program of Studies form here.
The M.S. in Literacy, Culture, and Language Education degree requires a total of 36 semester credit hours of study in the following areas:
Literacy, Culture, and Language Education (15 credit hours):
Inquiry (3 credit hours):
Foundations (3 credit hours):
Electives (9 -15 credit hours minimum, 6 of which must be from outside the department):
- See course listings for possible elective choices related to your area of interest.
- Consult the Distance Education course offerings for possible extra-departmental elective alternatives.
Transfer credit: If you have prior graduate-level course credit from an accredited institution, it may be possible to transfer in coursework and have it apply to your degree. A minimum of 27 credits must be completed from IU course offerings. You will need to discuss this with your advisor after being accepted.
