Fill out an application, return it with a resume. We'll keep that on file. Check the listings every week and let us know what you want to apply for. A typing test is required for all clerical positions.
C.4 Have my student teaching placements been completed?

When your placement has been confirmed you will be called immediately and letters will follow.
C.5 What kind of a job can I get with my major? What kind of major do I need to get this job?

You must maintain a 2.0 to be in good academic standing at IU. See your advisor for more detailed information.
C.8 Should I (how do I) FX a class? How do I get rid of an incomplete?

FX policy differs from school to school. See your advisor. If you have an incomplete in a class, do NOT register for that class again! You must see the teacher who gave you the incomplete to make arrangements for removal of the incomplete.
C.9 Where do I go to get help with classes?
University Division
The Afro-American Tutorial Program has free tutors for many courses. The tutoring sessions often meet in groups. It is a good ideas to go early in the semester to be assured of getting a spot in a group. The Student Academic Center offers some tutoring for classes as well as for time management and study skills. Many departments have tutors available (these often charge a fee). Many residence halls have a Peer Tutoring program which is free. There is Writing Tutorial Services located in Ballantine Hall on the second floor. We recommend that you see your advisor to discuss any problems that you re having in class. It is best to do this early!
C.10 Can I take classes at another school or at an IU regional campus?
University Division
Yes, but check with your advisor first. for non-IU schools, if your grade is a C or better, the credits will transfer but GRADES from non-IU schools do NOT affect your IU GPA! Grades in courses taken at an IU regional campus DO affect you IU GPA and ALL grades and courses transfer. However, course numbers may vary from one IU campus to another so to be sure how the class will count here at IUB, see your advisor. Contact the Office of Admissions and fill out a Credit Transfer Agreement form to determine how non-IU courses will count here at IUB.
C.11 What should I do if I can t decide on a major or if I m interested in two or three different majors?

See your advisor to discuss your interests. Go to the Career Development Center to explore information on careers. Talk to professors and advisors in the majors of interest.
C.12 Classes have already started, why aren t all of my books here?

Books being in stock depend on several things: a) when the instructor places the order (before or after the deadline), b) where the publisher is located, c) how long it takes for the order to be processed.

No, a degree is not required for admission to the School of Opt., there is no preferred undergraduate major.

C.16 Will I have an advantage in the School of Optometry if I do my undergraduate work at IU?

No, you can get a quality undergraduate education at any accredited institution.

There are several government-sponsored loan programs available, and many students work as Associate Instructors in lab classes, research labs, or in the community as their schedules allow.

Depends on the Department, different advisor numbers in each area, students are assigned by dept. or the office area (written notice once certified into program). Too see counselors, direct them (students) to dept. for hours/times.

We direct them to men s/women's locker room... go to bursar, pay money for locker fee, bring slip to equipment room to get locker number.

If you have a general request for IU information then contact the graduate school for a bulletin. Requests for information about specific departments in COAS can be transferred from our department to any of the 45 graduate programs within COAS.

C.96 I am confused. What is the difference between being admitted to the Sch. of Education and being admitted to teacher education?

Admission to the school means that your folder is here and you plan to complete a degree with us, while admission to teacher education is a different procedure, one that involves everyone who is working on a teaching license. You file an application for admission to teacher education and are accepted or you may not continue to take certain education classes. Admission to teacher education not only requires certain courses to be completed but insists on SPA and testing scores and a deadline for submission.
