Hardware and Software Requirements for Distance Students 

All students must have the following computer and connectivity configuration, at a minimum:

Hardware:

  • PC with Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, 7 or higher; or Mac with OS X (version 10.3 or higher)
  • Memory: 1 GB (2 GB recommended)
  • 1024 X 768 Screen Resolution or higher
  • Sound Card (Integrated or Separate)
  • 160 GB Hard Drive (at least 20-40 GB free)
  • CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive
  • Printer

Connectivity Requirements:

  • Broadband Connection
  • DSL/Cable Modem

Peripherals (access to the following is recommended):

  • Speakers and Microphone (Must be a headset)
  • Scanner

Software:

  • Symantec Endpoint Protection (IUWare)
  • Adobe Design Premium (IUWare):  Adobe Creative Suite 4 and 5 Design Premium include Photoshop, Flash, and Dreamweaver.
  • Adobe Production Premium (IUWare):  CS4 and CS5 include Adobe Premiere Pro, Soundbooth, and Illustrator.
  • Adobe Contribute (IUWare)
  • Adobe Captivate (IUWare)
  • Adobe Acrobat Pro (IUWare)
  • Microsoft Office 2007, 2010 or higher (IUWare)
  • Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, 7 or higher (IUWare); or Mac OS X 10.3 or higher
