IST Professor Recognized by AECT

At the 2009 Convention of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) recently held in Louisville, Kentucky, Dr. Charles Reigeluth was awarded two plaques from the Systemic Change Division — one for "Outstanding Journal Article" and another for "Distinguished Service to the Systemic Change Division."

Dr. Reigeluth has attended the conference almost every year since 1978.  This year he says he was pleasantly surprised by the recognition given to him by AECT for his contributions in the field of Systemic Change.

If there remained any doubt as to whether Dr. Reigeluth felt appreciated for his work, he definitely felt valued after the Systemic Change Division named a new award after him. "The Charles M. Reigeluth Emerging Researcher Award" will be given annually to a student who shows exceptional promise for outstanding research on systemic change.  Fittingly, the first recipient of the award was one of his own students, Dr. Sunnie Lee Watson, now a faculty member at Ball State University. Dr. Watson was also first author on the journal article, “Community members’ perceptions on social, cultural changes and their implications for educational transformation in a small school district community” published in the Journal of Organisational Transformation and Social Change, for which she and Reigeluth shared the Outstanding Journal Article Award.
