Internships

These data show the number and percentage of students in the following categories in the last seven years:

  • Those who obtained internships
  • Those who obtained paid internships
  • Those who obtained APPlC member internships
  • Those who obtained APA/CPA accredited internships
  • Those who obtained one year full-time internships

NOTE: In calculating the percentages, the program must use the total number of students applying for internship that year.

Since 2005, 47 students have applied for internship. Forty-two (42) were accepted during that period. Typically, those who are not accepted in the first year application have limited their search to a specific geographic location and are accepted in the next year upon reapplication. In one case, the individual applied to only two Veteran's Administration (VA) internship sites and was not accepted. Among the 42 students who were accepted for internship between 2005 and 2011, 42 (100%) were offered a paid internship, 39 had either an APA or APPIC approved (in some cases, both) internships. All of our students were placed in one-year, full-time positions. One student for family reasons in 2009 accepted a non-APA accredited, non-APPIC member internship. This year, two students accepted non-APPIC internships at sites that are in the process of applying for APPIC accreditation. The sites have agreed during the student's internship to prepare an application for APPIC membership. In ever case of non-APPIC approved sites, the site must assure our program they will follow guidelines consistent with APPIC training site standards.
