Indiana University Bloomington
I retired in May 2008, but am still involved with some of the activities of the Mathematics Education Program. Before I retired, I taught mathematics pedagogy courses for prospective elementary and middle grades teachers and research design courses for graduate students in Curriculum & Instruction. Currently, I am writing (with two colleagues) a series of books for elementary-school age children tentatively titled Problem Solving Matters, I am a consulting author on a new elementary mathematics curriculum, Stepping Stones, and I recently signed a contract with a major publishing company to edit a series of research syntheses for secondary and university mathematics teachers. Until August 2012, I served as editor of the Research Commentary section of the Journal for Research in Mathematics Education. My research interests involve the study of the development of students' problem-solving ability.
