How to Apply
The time a student takes to complete requirements will vary widely. Entering students who possess extensive background or have extensive teaching experience might take something over one year; others might need three or more. But after beginning professional preparation, a student will be enrolled in the Seminar for four hours credit every term that she is on campus. She finishes the program when she satisfies the 30 Program Expectations, passes the methods and reading courses, and satisfactorily completes student teaching.
Completion of the program typically demands the following professional credit load, depending on a student's prior experience and teaching major:
- Two to five semesters of the Seminar (8 to 20 cr hrs)
- The methods course(s) (3 to 8 cr hrs)
- The reading methods course (3 cr hrs)
- Student teaching (10 to 16 cr hrs)
- Total (24 to 47 cr hrs)
