What is the Armstrong Teacher Educator Award?
Thanks to a generous gift from Cook Group companies in Bloomington, Indiana, the Martha Lea and Bill Armstrong fund in Teacher Education allows us to recognize outstanding school teachers in Indiana. These teachers are recipients of The Martha Lea and Bill Armstrong Teacher Educator Award.
To emphasize the importance of collaboration between the Indiana University School of Education and the K-12 community, Armstrong Teacher Educators work with our undergraduates in courses, field experience sites, research projects, and other activities that are mutually beneficial. There is also a small monetary gift for each teacher at the end of their active year.
This award, which was started in 1997, has been a rewarding experience for not only the Armstrong Teacher Educators, but also for their K-12 classroom students, the undergraduate students, and the faculty with whom the Armstrong Teacher Educators work.
