Panel Discussion - September 18, 2009.
Our first fall Panel Discussion got off to a great start with the current cohort of Armstrong teachers sharing many of their own experiences.The students present had many questions on "How to Start the School Year Strong," and came away with many useful tips and ideas.

Summer Retreat: June 26 & 27, 2009.

The annual Armstrong Summer Retreat is open to all Armstrong Teacher Educators and as usual, many of our Armstrong alumni attended this year. Moreover, the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 cohorts were also present. For two days, the Armstrong teachers took part in discussions on best practices, saw presentations from this year's awardees, constantly consulted with colleagues, and shared many meals together.

On April 29, 2009, the 2009 - 2010 Armstrong Teacher Educators were recognized at the Celebration of Teaching. Awards were distributed to our seven new Armstrong Teacher Educators. Information about the new awardees can be found at our website www.armstrong.indiana.edu
ISEA Conference: March 27, 2009.
The Indiana Student Education Association helds its Spring Conference recently. The conference theme this year was "Looking at Exemplary Work & More!" The current cohort of Armstrong teachers were an integral part of the conference and participated in both morning and afternoon sessions. They were also part of a Post Conference Panel that served to help students prepare for job searches and interviews.

Visits to IU: March 2009
Our Amrstrong Teachers make semi-regular trips to Indiana University to collaborate with faculty and take part in the life of the School of Edcuation. On March 10, Brain White visited the classroom of Adam Maltese and shared some of his experiences as a Science teacher. The IU students were very eager and engaged during the presentation and Brian remained for one-and-a-half hours after the class to answer students' questions!

Our Spring Panel Discussion got off to a great start with our Armstrong teachers sharing many of their own experiences.The students present had many questions on "Organizing for Successful Teaching," and came away with many useful tips and ideas.


Panel Discussion: November 2008
Once again, a huge crowd turned up for the Armstrong Panel Discussion. This time the topic was Assessment and Accountability and the Armstrong teachers answered many questions posed by the students present.

Panel Discussion: October 2008
EDUC 3275 was packed to capacity on October 3 for the Armstrong Panel Discussion that dealt with the topic of Effective Parent-Teacher Communication. The current Armstrong teachers shared many valuable experiences and resources with those present.

Panel Discussion - March 28
"Classroom Management"
Lively discussion was heard coming from Ed 3275 as Education students and Armstrong teachers participated in a panel discussion on Classroom Management. Armstrong teachers Greg Lineweaver, Steve Wilson, Sue Keene, Pamela Fischer and Angie Kelich shared suggestions and resources with those attending.

"When One Size Doesn't Fit All: Differentiating Instruction"
Armstrong educators Greg Lineweaver, Susan Mattocks, Pam Fischer, Stephen Wilson, Angie Kelich and Lori Sampson presented ideas for differentiating instruction in elementary and secondary classrooms at the February panel discussion.

Jeff Rudkin, 2005 - 2006 Armstrong Educator, awarded Milken Award

The Milken Family Foundation has honored Batchelor Middle School's eighth grade video production teacher, Jeff Rudkin, with its National Educator Award. More information about Mr.Rudkin and the award can be found here.
Panel Discussion - November 9
"Strut Your Stuff/A Look at Teaching Portfolios"
Ball State professor Nancy Schoolcraft joined Armstrong educators Greg Lineweaver, Sue Keene, Susan Mattocks, Stephen Wilson and Pam Fischer to discuss development of effective teaching portfolios. Information was given about portfolios that new teachers are expected to produce as well as other portfolios that experienced teachers might find they need. After the discussion Associate Dean of Teacher Education, Genevieive Williamson, Armstrong Chair Diana Lambdin and other faculty ate lunch with several students.
Call to Teach: Honoring the Profession - November 3
2007 – 2008 Armstrong Educator Sue Keene addressed students newly accepted to the School of Education Program at the annual Call to Teach ceremony. Over 200 students, family members and faculty attended the celebration.

Panel Discussion - October 12
Armstrong teachers Greg Lineweaver, Susan Mattocks, Pam Fischer, Lori Sampson, Sue Keene, Angela Kelich and Steve Wilson spoke with a packed room of education students and faculty. They discussed ways to deal with touchy subjects such as bullying, abuse and suicide. After the panel the 2007-2008 Armstrong teachers met with several students over lunch.
