Amy Abell

Amy Abell Amy is a second year school psychology student at Indiana University Bloomington who is working toward her Education Specialist (Ed.S) degree in School Psychology with a minor concentration in counseling. She previously attended Hanover College and earned her Bachelor's degree, majoring in psychology and taking a minor in sociology. Currently, Amy is a graduate assistant at the Center for Urban and Multicultural Education at Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis. As the liaison at Edgewood Primary School, Amy hopes to gain valuable experience in the collaborative development and implementation of a math enrichment program for gifted and talented students in grades K-3. Other interests include instructional consultation, cross battery assessment, and crisis management. Amy will complete her internship in 2006-2007.

Jennifer Akullian Jennifer is a second year doctoral student in the school psychology program at Indiana University. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology and biology from the University of Colorado. Working for the Indiana Research Institute for Autism, Jennifer is currently collaborating on research in the area of social skills in children with autism spectrum disorders. At Edgewood Intermediate School Jennifer is helping implement project RAFT (Reading Activities for Fluency Training) with struggling readers from the third grade classes.

Ashley Dennany Ashley is a second year school psychology student earning her Education Specialist (Ed.S) degree with a minor in counseling. Ashley graduated from the University of Arizona with her bachelors in Psychology. Ashley served as a Literacy Assistance Project teacher in Tucson Arizona where she focused on teaching balanced reading and writing strategies to children who spoke English as a second language. Ashley has also spent some time substitute teaching for the Monroe County Community Schools. Ashley will begin her school psychology internship in the fall of 2006.

Heather Edl Heather is a third year doctoral student in the school psychology program. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology at Loyola University in Chicago and a master's degree in Educational Psychology at Indiana University. Her past experience includes conducting psychoeducational assessments, collaborating with teachers to design behavioral interventions, and working in a summer clinic for students with difficulties in reading. As a 3rd Tier Intervention Specialist at Edgewood Intermediate School, Heather would like to gain experience working closely with teachers and administrators to design and implement academic interventions for students with unique learning needs.

Lori Gilber Lori is a second year Ed.S. student in school psychology. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Purdue University and her master’s in education from Indiana State University. Lori’s research interests include relational aggression among elementary-aged children and effective interventions in the educational setting for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She really enjoys working with children and hopes to be a valuable resource to them as a school psychologist. Lori hopes to work in an inner-city school district after completing her degree.

Elizabeth Hillman Elizabeth Hillman is a second-year graduate student pursuing an Education Specialist degree in school psychology. Elizabeth received her Bachelors degree in psychology from Gordon College in Massachusetts. Her interest in school psychology first unfolded while working as an assistant teacher in a Montessori preschool in San Francisco, California. Elizabeth is looking forward to using her work with the Academic Well-Check Program to become more fluent in providing systematic pre-referral interventions for students. Other interests include instructional consultation, creating effective crisis management teams, and the role of character education in curriculum. She will complete her internship in 2006-2007.

Andrea Hopf Andrea is a second year student working towards an Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology. She is a graduate assistant at the Indiana Resource Center for Autism, where she is collaborating on research in the area of social skills in children with autism spectrum disorders. As School Coordinator at Edgewood Intermediate School, Andrea hopes to gain valuable experience in the planning and implementation of effective interventions for upper elementary students. Andrea looks forward to becoming a practicing school psychologist in the public schools upon completion of her graduate studies at Indiana University.

Lisa Humphreys Lisa is a third year doctoral student in the school psychology program. She has worked in a variety of school settings as a school psychology practicum student, tutor, and substitute teacher. Lisa has a master’s degree in Educational Psychology. As a 3rd Tier Intervention Specialist at Stinesville Elementary School, Lisa would like to gain experience working closely with teachers and administrators to create learning opportunities that meet students’ unique academic needs.

Rose Jackson Rose is a second year doctoral student in the school psychology program. Before graduate school, she was a special education teacher and currently holds a license to teach K-12 in Indiana. Rose received her bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Purdue University with a concentration in emotional and behavioral disorders. Currently Rose is an associate instructor for the Teacher Education program and teaches the Adolescent Development course. Rose will begin her dissertation next year and would like to examine appropriate academic interventions for students with emotional and behavioral disorders.

Jenny Lambdin Jenny Lambdin is a second year EdS student in school psychology. Jenny graduated from Centre College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and Spanish. Jenny’s interests include early prevention and intervention. She enjoys working with the early childhood population of students and has spent time as a substitute teacher. She is also currently collaborating on a research project to examine teacher-student relationships in a group of preschool students. Additional interests include providing comprehensive services in the schools and evidence-based interventions for reading fluency. As School Coordinator at Edgewood Primary School, Jenny hopes to gain more experience and knowledge in consultation practices and in providing early intervention services to primary students. Jenny will begin her internship in the fall of 2006.

Jodi Maupin Jodi is a second year Ed.S. student in school psychology. She earned her bachelors degree in psychology from the Pennsylvania State University. Jodi is a graduate assistant at the Center for Urban and Multicultural Education (CUME) at Indiana University- Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), where she is involved with a literacy and self-self-esteem research project at an Indianapolis Public School. At Edgewood Middle School, Jodi is interested in gaining experience implementing a research based reading comprehension intervention for sixth grade students. Jodi will complete her internship in school psychology during the 2006-2007 school year.

Rachel Oxnard Rachel is a second year doctoral student. Before beginning this program she spent time as an AmeriCorps member in Colorado, where she was a literacy specialist working with at-risk middle school students, and a mental health counselor in a children’s hospital. Rachel has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and enjoys working with all children. As School Coordinator at Stinesville Elementary School, Rachel would like to gain additional experience and knowledge about assessing learning differences and early interventions for children. Rachel will begin her dissertation during her third year and is considering examining the use of curriculum-based measurement to test reading comprehension in children with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and Reading Disabilities.

Becky Perez Becky Pérez is a second year student pursuing her doctoral degree in School Psychology with a minor in Education Policy. Currently, she is a graduate assistant at the Center for Evaluation and Education Policy, where she is a part of the Indiana Disproportionality Project that explores the equitable provision of special education services to minority student populations. Becky is also working to develop a concentration in immigration issues, language learning and the educational experiences of English Language Learner students in American schools. Upon receiving her degree she would like to work with inner-city school districts advocating for the needs of marginalized student populations and communities.

Anne Trotter Anne is a second-year student earning her Education Specialist (Ed.S) degree in school psychology with a minor in counseling. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 2002 with a Bachelors degree in psychology. Anne is a graduate assistant at the Center for Evaluation and Education Policy, where she works on various projects with the Educational Choice and Options Team. Her areas of interest include learning disabilities, self-esteem, and anxiety. Through this practicum experience, Anne hopes to gain experience in implementing research-based interventions with middle school students. She will begin internship in the fall of 2006 in Winnetka, Illinois.

Susan Walsh Susan Walsh is a second year school psychology student earning her Education Specialist degree with a minor in counseling. Susan graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2004. During her undergraduate years she worked as a supervisor/head assessor in a marital violence lab. From this experience, she became interested in the effects that parental divorce and child sexual abuse play on a child’s education. Susan is looking forward to beginning her internship in the fall of 2006 and then working in the public schools.
