My name is Rick Hudson, and I am a doctoral student in mathematics education at Indiana University. I am originally from Patoka, Indiana, in the southwestern part of the state. In 2002, I graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with a B.A. in mathematics. In the fall of that year, I enrolled in the University of Louisville Masters Program for mathematics. After completing my degree in 2004, I taught high school mathematics for two years at Mount Carmel High School in Southern Illinois. I also served as a part-time instructor at Wabash Valley College, where I taught college algebra and trigonometry.
In the summer of 2006, I began my doctoral studies at IU. Although I am concerned with many issues in K-12 education, I am especially interested in statistical and algebraic reasoning, national assessment, and teacher education.
