ASSOCIATIONS
  • Secretary of the Digital Games Research Association Board. - DiGRA is an international game research association and my monthly efforts there have been increasing since we are to have a conference in September 2009 in London. This requires considerable email as well since our members are situated around the globe and I must coordinate minutes of key meetings.
  • Group Facilitator for the Virtual Learning Environment Research Group - This research group is mandated as an option in the new IST Doctoral Program, R695. Although I do not receive course credit for this course, I must spend 1.5 hours per week with the group of students who select this as an area of research focus.
  • Manager of IST Suite - The IST Suite http://www.indiana.edu/~referist/roomdes.html With a curriculum in the IST department that is heavily loaded with specialized projects requiring extensive use of technology, the demand on the IST Suite of production spaces and classrooms is significant. Since many classes focus on a specific technology at certain points in the semester, this creates a demand of 30 to 40 students all needing access to specialized equipment at the same time. Developing strategies for scheduling, designing tutorials on these technologies, and keeping all hardware and software at peak operating condition is particularly demanding. Two Graduate Assistants assist me in the day to day operation of the Multimedia Suite.  This year, besides the day to day operations, our primary accomplishments were: 1. Expansion of the responsibilities of the Lab Managers to order equipment, monitor its purchase, and coordinate these activites with our office staff.  2. to remove over 25 items in our inventory and send them to salvage. 3. to assist in the re-design and implementation of the New Teaching with Technology Laboratory (the TTL), that is used for the teaching of the new version of W200. 4. to assist in the removal and temporary storage of all equipment in the IST Studio. 5. to assist in the design of the new IST Podcast Studio. 6. to replace all equipment temporarily stored for rennovations and set-up new locations for much of these resources.
  • Program Coordinator - Advanced Technology Integration Program and the Computer Educator License Program - http://www.indiana.edu/~cel/ati/ATI_cert.htm Undergraduate Program Description The Advanced Technology Integration Program offers a minimal path for pre-service teachers to gain critical technology skills beyond the normal integration strategies offered to all pre-service teachers. http://www.indiana.edu/~cel The Computer Educator License (CEL) Program is a 18 credit hour curriculum at the undergraduate level resulting in a Computer Educator License. This license is intented to be combined with other subject area licenses as an add-on license within the Teacher Education Program. The CEL Program also involves a Graduate Program that is managed by Dr. Brush The Computer Educator License for Practicing Teachers (CEL – T) Program is a 15 credit hour curriculum at the graduate level resulting in an Indiana Computer Educator License. This program has been developed in order to provide current teachers in Indiana with an add-on Computer Educator license. The curriculum for this certification has as its genesis from the previous Computer Endorsement Program and is designed to meet the same standards as the CEL program mentioned above. We are currently working on revitalizing this opportunity to pre-service teachers through redesign of the core resident courses involved with this certification.
