I teach courses in mathematics education for prospective elementary and secondary teachers, as well as courses for doctoral students preparing to do research mathematics education. My research interests include K-12 students' construction of quantitative and algebraic reasoning; the nature of student-teacher relationships, the experience of energetic fluctuations, and the role of social interaction in mathematical learning and teaching; and the mathematical preparation of elementary school teachers. I also have significant interests in issues of equity in mathematics education.
